Roughly three years ago, a military wife found herself in Killeen, Texas for the second time in 12 years. She was invited to a birthday party, so she set out to find a unique gift to bring. Much to her surprise, she couldn’t find anything military-themed that was truly unique, or that she thought the recipient would enjoy. There was a lot of red/white/blue. Those are, after all, All-American colors, and as the old saying goes, “These colors don’t run.” Our flag is a very important symbol and reminds us of those who have fought so hard to give us the freedoms we enjoy today. But, red, white and blue are colors that women don’t wear every day. Plus, there’s no reason that you have to proclaim your military pride in terms of red, white and blue. Disappointed in the lack of options on her search for the perfect military gift that day in Killeen, this wife began talking with other military wives and found that many of them felt exactly the way she did. An idea was born, a long list was made (one that went through dozens and dozens of revisions) and the hard work began. There were a lot of bumps in the road, and much trial-and-error.
